Our story from 2014 till 2026

how it all began

Since the hotel was built in 2014, not only have the palm trees grown, but so has our vision. HAMACAS has been welcoming travelers to relax, recharge, and feel at home in the laid-back surf town of Santa Catalina.

Our hotel is designed for flexibility and ease, with  self check-in and check-out services so you can arrive stress-free. All of our studio rooms come with equipped kitchens, making longer stays extra comfortable, and every room features a private terrace surrounded by tropical flowers —your own little corner to unwind.

At HAMACAS, connection and relaxation go hand in hand. We offer plenty of common chill-out areas, a refreshing swimming pool, and soon, Santa Catalina’s very first outdoor gym and a dedicated yoga deck. In front of the hotel you’ll find a café, A Surf Shop, & a supermarket. while we’re right in the center of Santa Catalina, our property feels like a hidden retreat, tucked away from the noise of the streets. Whether you’re here to surf, explore the ocean, or simply slow down and enjoy tropical life, HAMACAS is your cozy base in paradise.

Very nice studio, comfortable bed. Located within walking distance of several restaurants The swimming pool was very welcome as the beach is not really suitable for swimming.

Beautiful bar, pool, and public space. Rooms were basic, but nice. Great vibe here. Liked it and Santa Catalina so much we extended for 6 more nights.<br>I'd love to see the bar open longer hours (just open for happy hour). Bathrooms had everything you need, just a bit small.

Super well located accommodation, with a wonderful and beautiful pool. The kitchen is small but useful, perhaps missing some kitchen utensils like scissors. Otherwise perfect. Super comfortable bed, clean bathroom, warm water (not too hot)

We stayed at this hotel for 8 days. We were able to cook our meals in a very well-equipped kitchen. The room was clean and comfortable. The terrace with outdoor furniture and a hammock was a plus. The staff, and especially Elli, the manager, were very friendly and available. She helped us with a reservation in Bocas del Toro for the rest of our trip. Excellent value for money. 100% recommended

We liked Las Hamacas a lot, lovely garden, good size rooms, common areas and kids loved the pool. It was close to good restaurants and the beach. We enjoyed our stay and would come back.hot water, small kitchen with propane burners and small fridge. The staff is very helpful and keep the rooms and grounds clean. There is also small pool to relax in. The entire space is laid out nicely.

The room is super spacious, very clean, the kitchen is no frills but has everything you need to make your own food, the terrace is super quiet and the hammock option is fantastic especially for a nap on rainy days, the pool area is so beautiful, the garden is super well kept and even has a sofa and bar area to relax, the location couldn't be better and the absolute best thing is the super attentive staff willing to help with everything, if I return to Santa Catalina I will return to Las Hamacas, there is no doubt.

Super frame and staff very discreet and friendly. Small but well-equipped rooms for 3 people. The scenery and the beauty. Close to all activities and the village centre, without any noise. Thank you again.

One day, we kept running into the same problem… our tools kept disappearing. So we went to our boss and said: “Can we please get pink tools? That way we’ll always recognize them — and no one will steal them!” And that’s how the pink tools became part of our story. ? But this is about more than tools. It’s about growth. It’s about teamwork. It’s about learning new skills and stepping into things we had never done before — together. We’ve been learning so much as a team — improving spaces, solving problems, supporting each other, and creating something we’re truly proud of.
